Gunpla Model Kits

The parent company of Sunrise, Bandai, started production of Gunpla model kits in January 1980 starting with the iconic RX-78-2 Gundam which only cost 300 yen. This was a big hit in japan and led to the creation of multiple different model kits and caused the model kit industry in japan to boom as a result. These model kits did not require any gluing as they snap together and modern ones are moulded in coloured plastic and do not even need to be painted.
Currently, Gunpla model kits come in many sizes:
>High Grade (HG) - These are 1/144 scale kits and are usually fairly cheap usually at 1000 yen not inclucing sales tax.
>Master Grade (MG) - These kits are 1/100 scale with a lot more articulation and gimmicks and usually cose significantly more at 2000 - 3000 yen
>Real Grade (RG) - These kits combine the intricacy of the MG kits with the size of the HG kits making them 1/144 scale but also with good articulation and sometimes a gimmick. These usually cost 1500 yen to 2500 yen. >Perfect Grade (PG) - These kits are 1/60 scale and as a result are very expensive. The older kits are around the same quality as a HG kit, just bigger, but newer ones are even better than the MG kits at times. >Super Deformed (SD) - These kits are simple chibi kits that are very small and are not of any set scale due to being not an accurate representation of a mobile suit. >No Grade (NG) - These kits are not very common and are all the old kits before bandai adopted the grade system. These are usually very cheap due to being so old and brittle and lower quality than the current circulation kits and cost 100-500 yen on average.
