This assignment aims at discussing some evidence that supports and evidence that contradict the claim that a plant-based diet increases the chances of having a stroke. As eluded in the first paragraph, there a number of evidence that support that a plant-based diet contributes to the chances of a stroke. A stroke according to (Stroke Association, 2019) is defined as the disruption or reduced of blood supply to the brain. According to the recent research by University of Oxford cited by (Farmers Weekly News, 2019) found that people who have decided avoid consuming meat may be at high risk of having a stroke. This is also supported by the research conducted by (British Medical Journal, 2019) over the period of 18 years and had a sample of 48,188 people. Researchers in that research concluded that even though meat-free diet showed reduction in cholesterol; there was 20 percent higher risk of people suffering from a stroke due to low intake of vitamin B12. Nonetheless, Stroke Association (2019) argues that a number of strokes are due to aging as arteries become narrower and harder hence high chance of blood to be blocked and cause stroke. Moreover, certain lifestyle and medical conditions may as well increase the process of having a stroke (StrokeCentre, 2019). REFERENCES Farmers Weekly. (2019).
