How we started

From one dog walker to a small local team

A member of the Burrow & Bone team sitting outdoors with a dog in her care

Founder Maya Lindqvist began walking neighbours' dogs around Elm Hollow park while studying, using a paper notebook to track routes and routines. Word spread quickly — owners liked that the same person turned up every time, and that notes about a nervous rescue or a dodgy hip were remembered without having to repeat themselves.

By 2021 the notebook had turned into a team of four, covering walking, grooming, daycare and boarding under one roof. We've deliberately kept growth slow: every new carer trains alongside an existing one for a full month before working solo.

What guides us

Our approach

  • Consistency first. Your dog sees the same one or two carers, not a rotating roster.
  • Written handovers. Every visit ends with a short note on mood, appetite and behaviour.
  • No cages, no crowds. Grooming and daycare both run in small, calm spaces.
  • Honest limits. If a service isn't right for your pet, we'll say so and point you elsewhere.
