And I was really happy to be sent on a residential training course to further my skills but there was still so much to do getting the payroll ready too.\n\nSo, on the morning of the course I got up early and went down into the lobby of the hotel where they had a small business centre with computers where you could go online.\n\nI think I just used it to check my emails and make sure I was on top of any issues back in the office.\n\nIt wasn't until that evening when I logged in again that I realised something was wrong.\nThere was a whole bunch of replies from people I hadn't contacted - responses to emails asking for personal data, that I hadn't sent.\n\nWell, I didn't know what to do... The next thing I knew, I was locked out of my own email account - my password wasn't recognised.\n\nSo, first thing the next morning, I spoke to the Information Security team at the University. They told me my account had been hacked and I was most likely the victim of keylogging while using the hotel computer. Apparently keylogging is a device or software that stores the keys you press on the computer. Well, I felt so guilty, and stupid... and then it sunk in how serious it all was.\n\nI think it's now a case of trying to find out what information they could have stolen in that time. \n\nThere's all kinds of details about staff and University accounts, personal details too.\n\nI feel so guilty about the mess it has caused.
