It's All About Al!

Al’s Journey begins in Sicily, Italy. Born in 1823, Alonzo Berlusconi, who became known as ‘Al’ or ‘Big Al’ to his friends and family, lived a humble and simple life in Italy. Growing up money was scarce and work even more so.
After reaching the age of 19, Al decided he wanted to move to America with the hope of living the American Dream, as at the time America’s economy was booming, and jobs opening up all over the place!
For a number of years Al worked as a labourer, but eventually got tired of the trade. His real passion was always in food. Al would always cook for friends and family, who praised his amazing culinary skills. He saved up enough money to open his very own Pizzeria and served a small but loyal customer base for nearly 30 years to come!
After Al retired, he passed the pizza place onto his two sons, along with his secret recipes and passion for good authentic Italian food. The boys continued in his footsteps and passed it down for generations. Today the same family runs Al’s pizza place, following the exact same recipes to the letter, as well as adding some more!

Al's Pizza Place has been trading out of New York since 1859, making it one of America's first authentic Italian Restaurants.
A proud Italian-American family run business, Alonzo "Al" Berlusconi arrived in America in 1845 to live the American Dream as promised by America's booming economy.
After spending 6 years working as a fruit merchant, Al had had enough of selling fruit and veg and began saving for his very own pizza joint right in New York!

Big Al’s special encompasses everything the man was passionate about, and everything we here at Al’s Pizza are still passionate about today!
