The Academic Skills module has been a big part of my progress as a student at university. I was unfamiliar with what academic writing required or how it was different from informal writing at the beginning of the course. I gained knowledge over time that academic work requires me to be meticulously organized, have critical thinking, use evidence-based arguments, and include appropriate references. This reflective essay discusses associated with the most significant capabilities I developed throughout this module, the challenges I faced, and how these experiences have impacted my confidence and my academic goals over the future. I was feeling less confident regarding the way to organize essays or write in a formal academic approach at the initial stages of the module. I often wrote based on my personal views instead of facts, and I was unfamiliar with how important it was to back up those views with reliable sources. One of the most useful things that happened to me was how to summaries and paraphrase academic writing. At first, it was hard for me to restructure information in my personal words without changing what it meant. However, with guidance and practice, I gained more effectiveness at finding the main points and expressing Ing to them clearly. This ability certainly helped me prevent plagiarism in an individual's work, but it also helped me understand what I was reading better. I also learned how to reference, which is another important skill. Initially, this lesson did not realize how important it is to reference sources properly. I now comprehend that referencing is not just about avoiding misconduct in educational institutions; it is also about showing that you did thorough research and are reliable. Learning how to cite sources correctly made me conscious of academic credibility and made myself more responsible when I wrote. As a result of this, I feel more confident in myself when I add evidence to my work. Learning how to think critically and evaluate materials was one of the greatest essential elements of the module. Before learning about structured evaluation methods, I often accepted things at face value. However, learning how to interpret sources, especially through the CRAAP method, changed the way I think. I learned more about how important it is to check the currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose of information. Using this framework helped me select improved academic sources and made my work stronger overall. The process helped me go from reading passively to analyzing closely, which is an important skill for college. Even with these improvements, I had plenty of challenges during the module. One of the hardest things was getting used to the language used in the institution. Initially, it felt strange to write in a formal tone, and I had trouble not using casual language. Moreover, it took a lot of work to make sure that paragraphs had obvious topic sentences and followed a logical order. But with time and practice, I got more used to academic standards. I learned that writing effectively takes effort and patience, and that requires one to be determined and keep practicing it. Another problem I had was managing my time. To balance educational work with personal commitments, I had to be more organized and plan far in advance. Initially, I thought it required me if it did to research, plan, and write assignments. But as the module went on, I started to use planning tools like making lists before writing and giving myself deadlines. These methods helped me become less overwhelmed and made my work more effective overall. I found out that getting ready is important for making assignments that are well-organized and make sense. I can see a clear change as well as my attitude and my academic skills as I think about how far I have progressed. I no longer feel unsure about assignments at all. Instead, I start by looking at the task, planning how to do it, finding reliable sources, and putting my arguments in order. I experience greater confidence in myself when I read academic articles and find the main ideas. I also know how important it is to think about feedback and use it to make future work better. This way of thinking has helped me get better at judging my own work and finding areas where I can improve. The Academic Skills module has also helped me learn how to be more independent. I now know that doing well in school is not just about knowing the material; it is also about being able to present what you know well. I can use skills like paraphrasing, critical evaluation, referencing, and structured writing in all my future modules. I think that as I write more academic materials, these skills will develop deeper. Overall, the Academic Skills module has helped me improve as a university student in significant ways. I have learned important skills in academic writing, research, and critical thinking. I have also overcome problems with language, structure, and managing my time. I have become more confident, organized, and independent in how I learn by thinking about it and practicing it. I plan to use these skills in all my future academics and keep getting better at thinking critically and communicating clearly. This module has given me an excellent foundation for my academic journey and has prepared me for the challenges of higher education.
