Game of the Year Awards
Assassins Creed Origins
Assassin's Creed Origins would have been nominated for this award just from the trailer alone. The sun glistening off the egyptian sand and the egyptian rivers doesn't go unnoticed. This is the perfect game this year to do some sight seeing and to walk around enjoying the view.
Yakuza 0
Yakuza 0 is a remake of a game that was previously only available in Japan. The story has been awarded the Gamer Galaxy Best Storyline award for having a compelling narritive. Kiryu, the main playabe character and Japanese thug is charged for a crime he didn't commit, and as a result his orginisation, The Yakuza drive him out, Kiryu must prove his innocence. What follows is an incredible tale of redemption.
Kingdom Hearts III
Kingdom Hearts III has been anticipated since 2005 when the last main title came out. The reason it is this years winner for most anticipated is because Square Enix have finally revealed that they plan to release the game next year in 2018 so that we can finally bring the Xehanort Saga to an end.
Persona 5: Phantom/Joker
Persona 5's main character is interesting, because at first he doesn't seem like much. At first he's a common geek archetype, almost like a blank slate. He's surrounded in mystery until after the first day of school, he comes out of his shell and is revealed to be an interesting, heroic protagonist.
Ubisoft
It's hard to choose who the best developer of the year is, our initial thought was Square Enix, however after careful consideration we've decided Ubisoft should take the award. They have released 10 games this year such as Assassin's Creed Origins and For Honor, however they have also been awarded this because they've announced 5 more games for next year and you can bet there will be more.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Nintendo's new console released this year and with it they've blessed us with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is a huge open world with tons of activities to do and a compelling narrative to follow when you're not too busy having fun defeating camps of goblins. The amount of customisation available in this game is breath taking, want to dress as a ninja? Nintendo's got your back. Want to dress as a knight? Nintendo's got your back. You want to dress as wizard? Nintendo's got your back. Want to dress as a ninja-Knight-Wizard hybrid? Nintendo still has your back.
Red Dead Redemption 2
March of this year was the home of the best announcment all year. Rockstar Games have not released a game since the release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, and so when Rockstar changed their profile picture to a black and red logo and their cover photo to a rising sun with a red background on Twitter, the eagle eyed fans of Red Dead Redemption were quick to speculate. A few days later a trailer was put online that blew us all away..
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
In 2016 when The Witcher 3 released, it blew us all away. A year later we still compare it to games and wishing more games were as good as the Witcher 3. The card game Gwent in The Witcher 3 was so much fun and was an easy way to sink hours into the game without realising it. As such it only seems natural CD Projekt Red would release a standalone gwent game for us to experience the iconic card game for free.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
After the success of 2014's Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor we all wondered when it would make a triumphant return to PC and consoles. 2017 was that year, commanding an army and taking down forts of orcs in Middle Earth has never looked so goood. This game improves every feature from the previous and adds so much more, this is why it has been awarded "Best Sequel of 2017".
Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
When The Elder Scrolls Online originally launched, fans were dissapointed at how much of the game was blocked off from the beginning. Human's could only travel to specific locations of the map for example and orcs could only go to other locations. Bethesda have changed their mind however and now Tamriel is unlimited, go anywhere do anything, and no more subscription costs. Morrowind allows users to go back to the location of the third Elder Scrolls game and are introduced to a whole new quest.
