Component 2, research report Student name: Ludmila Craciun Student id: 2118803 Lecture name: Doreen Nyaa Amundam Introduction This essay highlights the main learning from the beginning of the year. Five major learnings are discussed in this essay. I have discussed my learning from using PowerPoint, My learning from using the word, my learning from CRAAP and learning related to research. Following is also mentioned an explanation of the way I did task 1. I will also explain my learning my advantages and disadvantages of working in a group I will also explain what I have learned and my experience, outcomes, and future targets. Task 1 Task one was based on discussing the ways by which staff can be motivated. The first half of this task was based on the challenges that arise while motivating the staff and the second half consisted of the effective ways by which staff could be motivated. To get this task done, I mostly searched the data on database, Google Scholar. The reason of using this data base was to collect authentic data. It took me almost two days to complete this task. On day 1, I did all the research and made the heading and on the day 2 I did the write up and proofreading.in task one i have thougth it would be easy just like the planning of the hole report but when writing 2000 words I have come to a pit stop. In addition to this I struggled putting my ideas together and writing them down, in my experience of the report I have learned a great deal about referencing and the importance of backing up information's, I have found it difficult particularly to find information's that were useful and not biased. From task 1 also put together how information from other source are not useful and we should not use it, but spending times reading books and finding correct information has taken a lot of time and thinking Reflecting on the report I have learned a vast deal, and this was because it was new and added information are always useful to me, a part of my qualities I'm always prepared to learn new things, I have come to understanding that the internet is not always true and many are lies or biased opinions, I also come to see the importance of backing up your information's with data like secondary and primary sources. In many cases when spoken or written information it is especially important that I provided meaning and relevance where information's is coming from. Through-out the report I have built confidence that I'm capable of working harder and not backing off from challenges, it also boosted my experience on creating and drafting reports it has made it easier for me to fulfil one when ever asked. Looking back, I can only say that I have enjoyed the challenge of creating and handling reports and it has changed a great deal for me in terms of knowledge. I come to build better self-esteem for future essays or reports. Learning from PowerPoint In this module, I learned how to use PowerPoint. PowerPoint is used for the slide show presentation program. It is considered the main software used by the lectures to give lectures with the help of images, video, and audio. I learned how to use the main features of PowerPoint for having a greater visual impact. These visual and audio features are used to develop the presentation. PowerPoint engages the audience with the presentation given by using digital media. I learned how to add pictures and videos to the PowerPoint slide to explain the concepts through digital media better. I also learned how to add videos and audio to the PowerPoint slide and how these audio can videos can be played while giving any presentation (Penciner, 2013). PowerPoint can be used anywhere, and it can be used as a collaborative solution for explaining some of the main concepts that are difficult to explain verbally. Some of the main concepts require pictures and audio to be used on a great scale for better explanation. I have also learned how to animate some of the presentation slides, and animation can help explain technical concepts easily. PowerPoint is the main software that can be used for multiple purposes, and it can facilitate an effective way of communication with the audience. In student life, students must learn about the presentation made with the help of PowerPoint, and students should learn all the main aspects involved in the PowerPoint presentation. PPT is considered important for conveying the message related to brand identity and brand guidelines. Students who wish to join the business in the future are expected to learn the main features of PowerPoint, which are essential. PPT is considered a digital presentation that can assist the person in having proper communication with the audience. The students need to learn the basic concepts of PowerPoint learning (Rachmanto, 2013). Learning from word Word is considered the main tool for making professional documents, letters, and reports. Word is considered to have advanced features that help develop the format, which can help in editing and writing in different possible ways. I learnt how to use the word for writing. With the help of word, I made different assignments and professional documents required during the academic year. Word can help us write documents with no grammar errors, and it can help increase the person's typing speed. It can also help learn different features that can help develop writing skills. The main features of the word I learned during my academic year include inserting pictures and smart art in the word. This can help in the development of the skills which are important for the students to be a good writers. I have learnt that different layouts are required in the word document, and with the help of layout setting, page setting can be done. (Kilcrease, 2021). Task2- group work: The task was amazingly simple we were required to work in groups and create a job advert to be able to achieve this instantly I thought about looking on indeed and find job adverts that would match our criteria and have a taste on how to advert and what to say to attract people, I also looked on what information companies where sharing with the public and we based our search on some similar adds, also my knowledge of the rewards that work best from the previous task “what rewards motivates staff” I used information from it and used It to back my job advert. In my group I had 3 people in total we each had our own ideas about the task and mixed opinions where to start the presentation's, my idea was that we all present a receptionist job for our hotel I thought we should have a challenge rather than doing something simple. All my team members agreed and were happy to do so, we started working on the projects and we have communicated over the phone, there were times when somebody speaking to much, but I listened to, and I tried to include everyone and be a good team member. This meant that nobody was left out and we all played our part. We all had homework to do and out task was complete in less than 4 days as we each edited our slide to live at the same time, but it took so long due to members not being able to work and contribute because of work or family matters so somebody had to improvise and put in the extra work which I found I had mixed feelings about. Nevertheless, I tried to work as much as I could and always go extra mile for research. my contributions to the task were as follows I opened the presentations, and a brief introduction on our hotel and information's about the organizations, a little insight to and background on the hotel, then I went on to speak out about the advert and what we look for. The advantages are that as a group the task are finished quickly, what I draw from the task and my group work is that you sometimes you must acknowledge people's feelings and be able to work together requires patience. When we presented our task, I felt slightly nervous as a group we went over the hole project and took turns but the idea of presenting in front of the class had me exited but managed to overcome the feeling and finish the task. For future reference I would say I want to work more on my ability to communicate more and to speak more professionally this is what I have suggested my goals should be, working in a team has also been a good experience and I have learned a good deal from working together to skills like communication and patience I would on the hand consider choosing partners for other projects like friend's but none the less the experience was a success. CRAAP CRAAP is used to analyse the authenticity of the research articles used for the research. CRAAP is the abbreviation related to the currency, relevance, authority, accuracy and purpose. It provides a list of questions that help develop the research results. I learnt that C is for currency, which means how old is the article and which year the article was published. The articles which are written in recent years are considered to be current articles, and the articles which are written in previous years are considered to be non-current articles. The second alphabet, Rrepresentst relevant, means which articles are more relevant to the research topic. The researcher must be using relevant articles for the research. A represents the author of the article. The author of the article should be authentic, and no such article is included which is written by an author who is not authentic. A represent accuracy means that accurate information is added to the research. Accuracy is the main factor that must be considered for the research. P is the purpose of the article, which states the purpose of the research articles (Gray, 2021). All the main parts of the CRAAP are important as they represent the authenticity of the research articles. I learned that CRAAP is important for highlighting the authenticity of the research articles. CRAAP helps the researcher use only that information that is recent and authentic; based on five parameters, the authentic and correct information is used in the research. CRAAP is a test to check the reliability of the sources utilised for the data. Each CRAAP component guarantees the assessment of the examination source and assists the analysts with dealing with the believability and worth of the assets. It essentially shows the idealness of the work that has been a long time during its distribution. It is significant and common sense to utilise the hour of the distribution, and it is useful too (Yarden and Levkovich 2021). Importance of references References are considered the most important element of any document; the researcher needs to use the correct references and sources for the research to be authentic. The data sources can be followed from various data sets and databases. It is attested that the data can be recovered from the web and disconnected assets. Essentially, all the data is fundamentally separated from the auxiliary assets. The optional assets are those true examination materials that are entirely considered (van Nieuwerburgh and Barr, 2020). The examination information bases are related to specific distributions, making them simple to assess their sources. The data sets offer examination papers, diaries, and eBooks alongside references in each organisation and referring to style (Jones, 2011). Furthermore, stages like Google Scholar refer to references, and significant articles also assume a specific subject is to be looked at. The importance of the references for the research can be highlighted because any information written in the research should be well cited. The information which is not well cited is considered to be unauthentic. It is considered the main factor that the information used in the research should be authentic (Gray, 2021). Conclusion This essay has highlighted my main learning from the beginning of the year. Five major learnings have been discussed in this essay. I have discussed my learning from using PowerPoint, My learning from using the word, my learning from CRAAP and learning related to research. PowerPoint engages the audience with the presentation given by using digital media. Word is considered the main tool for making professional documents, letters, and reports. I learned the main research principles in this module and the basic ethics included in the research process. References are considered the most important element of any document; the researcher needs to use the correct references and sources for the research to be authentic.
