My name is Menna Sian Davies. I’m 23 years old and live in a small town in South-West Wales called Carmarthen. I work as a healthcare support worker for Hywel Dda Health Board, a role I have been dedicated to for the past five years. Following from this, I recently got a new job as a nursing support worker which I am really looking forward to starting. My job is something I am really passionate about as I love helping people, and one day I aim to progress on to do my nurse training. I have three sisters, one older and two younger, named Anwen, Rachel, and Bethany. My mum’s name is Ruth and she’s completely besotted with our family dog, Cez, who we got back in 2020 as a gift for her. He named after my late father, Ceri. I am very close with all of my sisters, more like friends some would say! We all share a strong passion for running. Because of this my sister started up a women’s only running group called ‘Merched Sy’n Rhedeg’. I attended this group every Saturday morning and enjoy socialising and excising with like-minded people. I have competed five half marathons and three 10k races. Other than keeping fit and spending time with my family and friends, I enjoy spending time alone, going for walks, reading or simply getting a coffee and having a wonder around the shops in my local town. I enjoy sitting with my own thoughts and taking time to process the days and weeks that have passed. I like to do things that enable me to step outside of my comfort zone, last year I did a couple of solo trips to Poland and France. These were to be able to gain a sense of independence and explore the two cities visiting museums and galleries, things that my friends would certainly not like to do on a holiday. Alongside this, I enjoy going on trips and holidays with friends, as I have began to get older I’ve realised it is a little bit more difficult to get everyone in one place at the same time, so when we go, I cherish the moment and memories made. I come from a very musical family, my grandfather was extremely talented on the piano, which led to the whole family picking it up in some way. I took piano lessons all throughout school and have learnt not only to read music, but to play by ear. I spend some evenings playing and practicing, learning new songs, this makes me feel very close to my family even though there is a physical distance between us. My uncle pursued a career in music and know works on cruises all over the world playing the piano, singing and even doing a bit of stand up. Family is something that is extremely important to me, I count myself extremely lucky to have such an amazing network of love and support around me.
