Restaurant Industry Management Hospitality, like any other industry, needs close and effective monitoring. The hospitality and hotel industry is one of the industries that are customer relations bound. The quality of service in this industry determines the levels of success since they depend primarily on customer reviews and word of mouth to suggest customer experience. When people visit a restaurant unfamiliar to them, they tend to look for reviews from customer experience. Therefore, restaurant management is critical to the hospitality industry's success. Restaurant management entails overseeing the daily operations within a restaurant, although it has to be strategic as managers are obliged to guide businesses to succeed in the long run (Lin & Chung, 2019). Successful restaurant management needs to have the restaurant's role, and responsibilities done timely, efficiently, and effectively. This paper details restaurant management and its roles and responsibilities within the scope of the restaurant industry. The restaurant industry is essentially a business that gives the customer the liberty of ordering food and eating the food on-site, although it can offer to take away food and other services. Some of the business that can be referred to as components of the restaurant industry includes restaurants, bars, and other eatery businesses. Restaurants may be stand-alone establishments or part of larger chains, such as those found in hotels. The hospitality business, of which restaurants are a part, is massive. The fact that restaurants often encourage the in-house taking of food distinguishes them from the catering sector. A restaurant needs management, and this brings in the role and the responsibility of a restaurant manager, who is generally the overseer of the operations of the restaurant every day. It is critical for hotel managers to have a big pool of knowledge of the restaurant business and its operation so as to have the right performance tracking knowledge. Restaurant managers have to be close in monitoring the customer experience that is provided by subordinates. Close monitoring of customer experience helps in maximizing customer outcomes. A restaurant manager has to ensure that the quality of food offered in the hotel is to the best standards possible, and a manager ought to live and die on the quality of food offered as their first role (Pratminingsih et al., 2018). Also a restaurant manager is also responsible for general controlling of operations within the restaurant, which ensures that there is no collision of services and also reduces the lead time in service of customers (Kocaman, 2021). For a restaurant manager to ensure that business runs optimally, she has to take on reputation management tasks, improving or taking to par public relations and marketing strategies. The manager is also responsible for the choice and adoption of the right strategies and business practices (Nguyen et al., 2018). Managers, to succeed in restaurant management, need to ensure the right restaurant POS systems and other restaurant management software. There are different types of restaurant services that are dependent on the types of restaurants. The dining restaurant is a restaurant that gives high-end service like sophisticated presentation, quality food, a high degree of formality to experience, and super skilled staff. In this restaurant service, the chefs are highly trained and renowned personalities within the society (Pai et al., 2018). Then there is the casual dining restaurant service which presents a more relaxed setting for customers to enjoy; in this kind of service, professionalism and formalities are slightly relaxed. The services in this kind of setting are affordable, and the food quality is not sophisticated (Aldaihani & Ali, 2018). There is also another kind of service; Buffet which involves placing food in an open place, and customers serve themselves and take food back to their dining table. There is a diverse range of options for the types of cuisines. In this kind of service, customers pay a flat fee irrespective of what they eat (Choi et al., 2018). There is another kind of service; fast food restaurant, which is more focused on convenience and speed. The food and the cost of services in fast food are relatively cheap (Liyanage et al., 2018). Restaurant management, the roles, and the responsibility of the restaurant are important topics in the hospitality industry. Restaurant management is an essential field of study since managers in this industry are responsible for so many moving parts (Cho et al., 2019). Good restaurant managers play an essential role in the smooth operation of their establishments and offer several advantages to their employers (Takenaka, 2020). I have, through personal experience, realized control predicts the amount of each item that will be required. This also means that the food will not be prepared or ordered in excess and subsequently wasted. A yield test may be conducted to determine the wastage, cost, and quantity of the servings. It also indicates the type of equipment and procedures to be used, along with the estimated time required to prepare a certain dish. Thus it saves time and maintains the food cost.
