Act 1 FADE IN: InT. Location - aa meeting in a brightly lit room. 7 people are sat in a circle with a counsellor leading the meeting - midday. Richard the counsellor ... So lets continue by handing out the 90 day tokens. He pulls out a notebook from his pocket and reads. He sighs. RiCHARD THE COUNSELLOR Bill. Well done, you’re the only one that did it. There’s a very quiet short clap from one or two people. Bill Bill is a rugged looking man of average height and build. He has a very nonchalant attitude. (Really does not care) Thanks. RICHARD THE COUNSELLOR You don’t have anything else to say? No wise words? Are you proud of yourself? Bill Bill rolls his eyes. Not really. I’m still divorced, my kids still hate me and I missed TWO stag do’s. But hey, at least I get a silver chip. RICHARD THE COUNSELLOR Richard sighs and rubs his eyes. Fade TO BLACK. Title appears on the screen: The Businessman. ExT. outside diana’s home which is bill’s old home. He’s waiting outside to be allowed in. He is holding his dog “ripley” who is an old, fat and funny looking dog. There are missing people posters covering the posts on the streets. Bill ignores them. - late afternoon. Diana Opens the door and smiles at Bill. Come in, the boys have been waiting. She gives Ripley a pet and leads Bill into the house and shuts the door. Bill I got my 90 days today. (He’s expecting her to be happy) DIANA Well done. (she really doesn’t care) Diana stops and Bill stops with her. DianA Before we go in I should tell you. I’ve been dating someone else for a couple months. BILL Bill nods and gives a small smile. Okay. You moved on quickly. (He’s joking to hide his pain) DIANA Laughs nervously. Yeah haha. Um, he’s in the kitchen. I think it’ll be good for the boys if you try and get along. They both enter the kitchen. Peter is drinking a cup of coffee with his elbow high and stiff. Ripley runs over to Peter and begins barking frantically. PETER Backs away and looks terrified and his eyes are wide. Bill Dashes over and grabs Ripley. She stops barking. Sorry about that pal... (pause) Bill looks at Peter strangely. Hello? (He’s wondering if Peter can see him). Peter takes another sip of his coffee. DiaNA Peter. This is Bill, my ex-husband. I told you he would be stopping by to see Daniel and Tom. Peter Peter is tall and neatly dressed. His hair is too perfect and there isn’t a spot of dust on him. He has a distinct circular scar below his left eye. Hello, Bill. Peter holds out his hand and flashes a big smile. BiLL Shakes Peters hand which feels loose and soft. You alright? Peter holds the handshake for a little too long and the atmosphere feels awkward. DIANA Diana breaks the silence. Anyone want a cuppa? Bill Yeah, that’d be great thanks. Diana goes to make tea for Bill. PETER Bill. Diana told me that you stole money from her for alcohol. Bill Pulls a disgruntled face. What? I- that has nothing to do with you... it was a long time ago. (He’s offended and confused) PETER (With a blank face) I’m sorry. BILL Shakes his head slightly. So, uh- what do ya do for work? (he is still annoyed but holds back his anger) PETER I’m a business-man. BILL What sorta business-man? PETER Smiling big again. A business-man. I make a lot of money and drive a Mercedes. BiLL Furrows his eyebrows. Good for you. (He’s thinking this guy is a twat.) DIANA Hands Bill his cup of tea. There you go, I think the boys are in the living room. Bill Thanks, come on Ripley. Heads out the room whilst sipping his tea. He pats his leg and Ripley follows him after giving Peter little growl. InT. location - a sunlit living room where daniel and thomas (bills children) are sat on the couch on their phones - lATE AFTERNOON. BILL Enters the room and smiles when he see’s his children. Hey lads, how’s it going? The boys look up at him but don’t say anything. BILL (Sarcastically. Mocking his children) Hey dad! Nice to see you. Bill sits in-between them slightly squishing them and Ripley jumps up onto Daniels lap panting in his face. Daniel Pulls a disgusted face. Urgh! You stink! He pushes the dog off of his lap. BILL Laughs and pets Ripley. She’s an old girl, she’s allowed to stink. How’ve you guys been anyway? Missed me at all? He wraps his arms around them. Daniel rolls his eyes and Thomas doesn’t move. DANIEL Daniel is 16 years old. He resembles his father but younger. Fine. Thomas Thomas is 13 and looks more like his mother Diana. He is timid and shy. He nods in agreement with his older brother. Yeah, fine. Bill Nods. And thinks about a topic of conversation. He used to be close with his children but as they became older they drifted apart. So, what’d you guys think about your mum’s new fella? Peter? ThOMAS Shrugs. He’s okay, he picks us up from school sometimes. My friends like his car. DANIEL He’s alright I guess. He gets upset about random things though. Bill Looks concerned. What’d you mean? Daniel Well like, the other day we we’re eating tea and I accidentally spilt some salt near him an he got all mad and stuff. It was weird. BILL Scrunches his face. What a freak, did you tell him to fuck off? He gives Daniel and little nudge. Daniel Smiling. Wish I could have. BiLL Smiles back. So anyway how’s school going boys? Hope you’re ready for your exams... TIME CUT: 3 days later. INT. location - bills one bed apartment. It is clean for a bachalor pad and extremely average. Bill is stood in his kitchen preparing food. The TV is on in the background and it is the news. Anchorman In other news there has been a spike of reported missing people in the North West region... Bill Isn’t paying attention to the TV. He grabs his plate and heads over to his recliner. Ripley follows close by. He grabs the remote and prepares to switch the channel. ANCHORMAN One of the missing people is local man Winston Jones. An image comes on the screen of a man who looks like Peter drinking at a pub. Bill Stops what he is doing and stares at the screen in shock. He instantly recognizes the man. Anchorman Mr. Jones works for Torpedo Oil LTD and has been missing for almost 3 months, his mother and father are appealing for any information... BiLL Pauses the TV on the picture of Winston Jones and looks closely at it. He has the same exact scar as Peter. Bill realizes this is Peter. He opens his mouth and a piece of food falls onto the floor and Ripley eats it. Oh my fucking god. What the is this guy up to? BiLL Let’s catch this creep. Fade TO: tHE NEXT MORNING. ExT. location - outside diana’s house. Bill and ripley sat in his car waiting for peter to leave. he has been there all night- early morning. BILL Hiding behind his dashboard peeking over to watch Peters car. Come on, it’s nearly 9am. Leave already. - oh shit. Bill ducks further behind his dashboard. The front door opens and Peter walks out. He gives Diana a kiss and gets in his car. BILL Yes, finally! Let’s go! He follows behind Peters car at a distance cautiously. End of act 1 Fade in: half an hour later Ext. Location - a random industrial estate on the outskirts of town. - mORNING PETER Peter pulls up outside a large, abandoned office building and goes inside. BILL Bill parks his car in a hidden alley way and looks at Ripley Stay here and keep watch. Bark 3 times if anything happens. He sneakily finds away into the building and watches as Peter climbs the concrete stairs and follows closely behind him. Peter walks into a room and closes the door behind him. Bill sneaks up and peaks through a crack in the door. Peter Peter yawns before flopping down on a stained mattress on the floor and begins snoring. BILL Watches Peter through a crack in the door. He is really confused about the situation. He waits for a while before slowly creeping in. He tries to be quiet on the creaky floorboards. Bill walks over to a desk on the other side of the room. There is random paper scattered all over the desk. Bill picks one up and looks at it. It’s written in a random language (alien) unrecognizable to Bill. (whispering) Is this Spanish? Outside Ripley barks loudly at a passing car. PETER Stirs in his bed and begins waking up. BILL (whispering) Shit! He shoves the paper in his pocket and quickly and quietly climbs into a broken wardrobe and hides, Peter is still visible to him through the keyhole. Bill squints his eyes to watch Peter closely. PETER Walks around the room for a little while before stopping in front of his desk. He is in perfect view of Bill. He grabs a metal ball from the draw (Speaks in an alien language.) A large hologram appears. With a message written in a different language. BILL Stares in awe at what is happening. His eyes are wide. PETER Peter begins to undress, taking off his suit until he is naked. Bill shuts his eyes tightly, before peaking again. Peter unzips his skin and pulls it off. Underneath the skin is a purple, scaly alien. He is the same height as Peter was but appears a lot stronger. BILL Bills mouth opens wide and he is in shock. He blinks a few times and wipes his eyes to make sure he’s not going crazy. (very quietly whispering/ mouthing) What the fuck? PETER Somehow heard Bill from the wardrobe. His head snaps in that direction and he see’s Bill peaking out. He throws open the wardrobe door. BILL (Shouting) SHIT! Bill jumps out of the wardrobe and is cornered by Peter. Peter goes to grab him but Bill manages to slip through his legs and runs down the stairs and outside to his car. Ripley is frantically barking. He quickly speeds away. Peter does not follow. Cut to: INT. location - diana’s house - midday. Diana is in the kitchen and the children are somewhere else in the house. BILL Runs into the house panting and sweating. (Panicked) Diana! Daniel! Thomas! He makes his way to the kitchen. DiANA (worried) What? What is it? Daniel and Thomas hear the commotion and stand in the kitchen doorway. BILL (slightly out of breath) We have to leave now! Come on! I’m taking you somewhere safe! Everyone is concerned. DANIEL Dad? What’s wrong? DIANA What do you mean? What’s going on? BILL It’s Peter! DiANA (Slightly more relieved) What about Peter? Bill This is going to sound insane but, he’s a fucking massive, purple alien! Diana Sighs and rubs her eyebrows. Boys go upstairs please. BILL Pack some clothes and supplies! Daniel do you still have your bb gun? DIANA Shut up Bill! For crying out loud! Don’t pack just, go upstairs now! Bill Looks at Diana with a serious face. I know this sounds mental right but it’s true. DIANA (Pause) You’re drinking again aren’t you. I knew this would happen, it was stupid of me to believe you actually changed. Bill What? No I haven’t here smell my breath! Bill breathes into Diana’s face. DIANA Ew! Stop it. She sniffs. Have you been eating dog food? BILL I got hungry in the car and only had Ripley’s treats. But see, no alcohol. He breathes on her again. DIANA Right okay! Stop! She rolls her eyes. There are other ways of ingesting alcohol you know. Ways that cause hallucinations. Bill Are you suggesting I poured whiskey into my asshole? DiANA Honestly, I don’t know anymore. You’ve lost your mind. Peter is not a purple alien. He’s a nice guy. Making up ridiculous things about my boyfriend will not make me want you back. BILL (Serious) Please Diana. Please believe me. DIANA You should really leave. This is crazy. She begins to push Bill out of the house. He is still trying to convince her. BILL Here! Look at this! He pulls out the paper he stole from Peters desk from his pocket. Can you tell what language this is? DIANA She looks at the paper. I don’t know? Spanish? Just leave, don’t think you’re seeing the boys next week. She throws the paper in the trash and slams the door in Bills face. BILL Runs back to his car. Looks like it’s down to you and me Ripley. Fade TO: a few hours later. InT. location - bills apartment. There are scatterd notes and tools all over the floor as well as cans of monster energy drink. - 11pm. BiLL Is pages deep in online conspiracy websites. He’s looking up how to make an alien capturing machine. His hair is messy and he still hasn’t slept. (Frantically and insane) If I connected the green wire and the blue wire that should be enough too... There’s a knock at the door. Ripley barks. Bill cautiously makes his way to the door and looks through the peep hole. It’s his son Daniel. Bill swiftly opens the door and pushes him inside BILL Get in! Are you insane just walking here this late at night! DanIEL Dad! I believe you. He shows him the crumbled up paper from Peter’s apartment I know Spanish from school. This isn’t Spanish. It’s not even from this planet. BILL You really believe me? (Shocked) DANIEL Yes! I do. Peter’s a fucking freak. He had a go at me again for putting salt on his chips at dinner. Mum just likes having someone. Bill That’s my boy! He smiles and ruffles Daniels hair. Come on I’ve been planning out how to catch him. He shows Daniel his notes. I’ve been reading up on those looney sites. I think the aliens are stealing bodies and disguising themselves as humans for protection. We have to prove to your mother what Peter really is. He holds up a contraption he’s been working on This is a trap we could use and we could bring him to her as his alien self? DanIEL Or we could just record him on my phone? He holds up his iPhone. BILL Bill shrugs and nods. I guess that would work too. Less cool though. DANIEL What are we gunna do when we’ve got the video? BilL Show your mother and save her from a life with a disgusting purple, alien... and upload it to YouTube. Daniel Smiles. Peter should be on his way home again now. You ready to catch him? BILL I’m ready. End of act 2 ExT. location - industrial estate where peters home is. Bill and daniel are hiding behind a wall dressed in all black. Ripley is wearing a black outfit too. - midnight BILL His car is here. He’s definitely home. You okay? DanIEL (having some doubts) Dad? You promise you’re not drinking? BILL I promise. This is real son. Come on lets go. He looks at Ripley. Stay girl. You know what to do if there’s trouble. They sneak inside the building like ninjas and head up to Peters room. It’s quiet. Peter isn’t home. DanIEL He’s not here. They go inside the room and search around for evidence. Daniel checks a set of draws near the mattress and Bill search's back near the desk. BILL Look at all this crap. He throws some paper on the floor and kicks around the trash in the room. Suddenly there’s footsteps coming up the stairs. BILL He’s back! Quickly in here! He shoves Daniel into the wardrobe where he last hid and climbs in after him. They’re squished together DaNIEL (whispering) You smell like dog food. BILL (whispering) I know, just shut up and get ready to record! Daniel begins filming the room through a crack in the door. Peter walks in (human form) with a shopping bag. He places it on the bed. Once again he begins to undress. DANIEL Looks at his dad awkwardly. BILL Raises his finger to his mouth to tell Daniel not to make a sound. PETER Continues to undress again. Eventually he unzips his skin to reveal his true form once again. DanIEL Is still recording. He is shocked that it is actually true. Peter Peter pulls out a bottle of milk from his shopping bag and drinks it from the carton. He then grabs a brown bag full of rotten vegetables and eats them. They stink really bad and the smell wafts over to the wardrobe. Daniel Gags loudly. And realizes what that means. BILL OH FUCK! Peter instantly jumps up and screeches. He runs over to the wardrobe and breaks the door off the hinges. Daniel and Bill scream and try to make a break for it. Daniel Manages to save the video and hide his phone in his pocket. He slips out from Peter’s way. Bill Run! (choked) Peter has caught Bill by the throat and is waving him around. He’s screeching and yelling in his alien language. DaNIEL Looks towards the door and remembers his BB gun in his pocket. He pulls it out and shoots Peter in the head. Peter’s alien head is squishy and the BB pellet get stuck in there. Peter turns around dropping Bill and heads towards Daniel. Daniel tries to shoot him again but misses. Peter lunges towards Daniel but is tackled by Bill. BILL Get off my son you purple cunt! He pushes Peter to the ground and escapes out of the building with Daniel. They meet Ripley and begin driving away. Suddenly, Peter jumps from the building and lands on top of Bills car. Daniel and Bill scream. Ripley barks like crazy. PETER Smashes through the drivers window and tries to grab Bill. Ripley begins biting his arm making him bleed green goo everywhere. Peter screeches and falls off the car but continues to chase after them. InT. location - diana'S HOUSE - midnight. Diana and thomas are asleep in their beds. The whole house is quiet and peaceful. Bill, Daniel and Ripley burst through the front door yelling and screaming. They quickly board up the door with the couch. BILL Diana! Thomas! We need to leave! DIANA Still in her sleeping clothes rushing downstairs. Bill? Daniel! Have you gone completely insane! ThOMAS What’s wrong? Daniel what’s going on. BILL It’s Peter! I was telling the truth! See! He grabs Daniels phone. But it’s broken. DANIEL I dropped it on the way home, I’m sorry. DIANA This is seriously too far now Bill. How dare you drag our son into your crazy antics! I’m calling the- (she turns and she stops) Peter In his alien form is stood in front of her. He whacks her and sends her flying across the room. Stupid bitch! Give me the children Bill! BILL What do you want with them? He has his arms in front of his sons protecting them. PETER I need their bodies and lives so that my own children can be safe. As a father, you should understand my need to save them. Bill holds his children tighter. Thomas and Daniel are scared. BILL You’re not getting my children you alien nonce. PETER Screeches' loudly and runs towards them. Thomas and Daniel run and Bill gets into a large fight with Peter throwing each other around the room. Diana Get off him! She begins punching Peter and grabbing random objects from the room. She throws ornaments and plates at Peter but nothing can break his strong scales. In a frenzy she grabs a bottle of table salt and prepares to throw it. PETER Lets go of Bill and holds up his hands. Woah! Wait! Don’t! Please!. BILL Remembers the times Daniel told him about Peter being mad about the salt. Throw it! Diana Smiles and throws the closed bottle of table salt at Peters head. It bounces off doing nothing. Everyone looks at it. BILL (Sighing) For fucks sake! He quickly snatches the table salt from the ground, rips off the lid and chucks the salt all over Peter’s face and body. PETER Begins to melt instantly. He’s screaming and green goo is leaking everywhere. Eventually, he’s nothing more than a pile of green and purple mush. Daniel and Thomas rush over to Bill and hug him tightly. DiANA (Panting) He really was a purple alien. BilL Told you I wasn’t drinking again. Why did you date that guy anyway? DiANA Thought he was hot. She shrugs. Just because you killed him doesn’t mean we’re back together. They all smile at each other. The TV turns on by itself. AnCHORMAN This is an emergency broadcast. It appears as though the world is under attack from an unknown enemy. We are not sure yet, but it is possible this is an alien attack. Please stay inside and keep all doors and windows locked. There’s a bunch of bright lights appearing outside in the distance. The family look at each other in fear. Bill We’re gunna need some more salt. End of act 3 Cut to black. END OF MOVIE.
