About Big Ben

Big Ben is one of the most famous landmarks in London, United Kingdom. It is often used to describe the clock tower, but actually Big Ben is the name of the large bell inside the tower. The tower itself is called the Elizabeth Tower and it is part of the Palace of Westminster, where the UK Parliament is located. The tower was completed in 1859 and has become a symbol of London and British culture. It stands next to the River Thames in the center of the city. The clock is known for its accuracy and its strong, clear sound that can be heard across London. Big Ben is very popular with tourists and is one of the most photographed places in the United Kingdom. It was renamed the Elizabeth Tower in 2012 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
