Therapeutic activity programme: Bells

For professionals working with children age 7-11

No musical skills needed.

This programme using hand-bells is one of the most successful in the series. The practical activities are super engaging, fun and easy to deliver. The programme ends with a performance and so offers a wonderful opportunity for children, who may not often get the chance to shine, to perform beautiful and impressive bell music.

Highlighted by Estyn as effective practice, the bell programme is proven to help children engage with learning by improving concentration, reducing anxieties and by promoting positive relationships with peers and staff.

This programme holds a unique place between therapy, teaching and play and can be used as part of your school’s Universal Provision for ALN.

reviews

It was wonderful to see how engaged all the kids were. Such a clever idea. So easy to follow and so obviously benefitted the children.

Miss P Jenkins, St Mary's Primary School, South Wales

I think having an online platform to learn therapies/activities to help develop children’s mental health at the moment is essential. With this course I could see the benefits it would have with children of all ages and abilities. My youngest participant learnt from his older role models and the child with suspected ADHD was able to concentrate for longer periods as the course progressed.

I enjoyed doing the course and using it with my group. I think it was very easy to follow, you don’t need any musical background to do it and it was enjoyable for the children.

Mrs L Tyrrell-Howell, Christchurch Primary School, South Wales

Easy instructions and informative videos. I think it will be in demand especially as things have changed so much with Covid-19.
