You still play as the protagonist named Isaac Clarke who is the company’s best engineer who is sent to repair a damaged ship.
The storyline of dead space 2 is a follow on from the first dead space game being set further in the future where earth has developed an appetite for resource, this appetite has become the main inspiration to explore beyond are planets and have enervated deep space travel. Tremendous privately owned and operated mining ships have been created, to carve out entire city sized chunks of rock from other planets they are so named planet-crackers. They orbit planets and use advanced equipment to harvest the component elements and reduced the enormous rock size chunk in to raw ore. Communication to one of there planet-cracks had gone down the ship is called USG Nishimura. while the ship is undergoing a deep space mining operations on a planet, the companies best engineer is sent to fix the unknown issue the protagonist is called Isaac Clarke once on board he discovers the ship’s crew had been brutally murdered by an alien presence and is put in a situation that requires more than just basic survival skills, the fate of mankind is on his shoulders. After just surviving the alien presence so called the Necromorph infestation aboard the USS Ishimura, three years later Isaac Clarke awakens from a coma feeling lost and bewildered, and on a space, station named The Sprawl. As he slowly starts to recover and find out where he his and what’s happened the space station is overtaken by more progressive forms of the alien presence these being alien-zombie hybrids of the humans, And is once again forces to fight for survival.
