by Kaz Zecca.

One journal article and one source of grey literature:

Critical realism as a lens in reading Finnish primary teachers’ perceptions of inclusive education
https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/08856257.2025.2553594

I chose this one as it uses semi-structured interviews and a critical realist approach to qualitative thematic analysis, which is a route I will likely take. More importantly as well, the researchers interpreted their findings using disability-model perspectives, which is very closely aligned to my work.

https://ueaeprints.uea.ac.uk/id/eprint/98734/ - Link to PDF on this site.
A Critical Realist Reflexive Thematic Analysis of the EHC Needs Assessment Process Within One Local Authority: Understanding Parent, SENCO, and EP
Views Within the Wider Context

I chose this one because I feel it is a great methodological example for RTA, which I will use alongside B+C Reflexive analysis..

After reading both of them, I like how they describe researcher involvement, I intend on having a deep honest Big Q researcher involvement in my research which I feel these two papers set a good foundation for. (Alongside the methodological and philosophical fit of course).

by Kaz Zecca.

Main RQ:

How do Foundation Learning practitioners understand and negotiate disability and inclusion within their professional practice?

SQs (may reduce to three for this module??):

1/ How do Foundation Learning practitioners conceptualize disability and inclusion?

2/ How do practitioners interpret the relationship between individual needs, impairment and environmental or institutional barriers?

3/ How do practitioners understand the influence of identity, individual circumstances and wider social factors on experiences of disability and inclusion?

4/ How do practitioners describe negotiating different understandings of disability when making decisions about inclusive practice?

At the moment I am going through a "How?" stage... I may change the type of question later.
