by Petr Kotlar.

My biggest influence is my family and our big move from the Czech Republic to Cardiff, Wales. Moving countries changed my whole life. It made me more open-minded because I had to learn a new culture while keeping my Czech traditions. This affected my behavior by making me more patient and respectful when meeting people from different backgrounds. Through this activity, I learned that my past experiences and my family make me stronger and give me a unique view of the world.

by Catalina Andreea Pitica.

Part 1: Video & Reflection - The Danger of a Single Story

I watched TED Talk Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - The Danger of a Single Story. I understand this video is about stereotype.

1. People make assumptions about others when they hear only one story. They think all people from same place are same. For example if they see one story about Africa is poor, they think all Africa is poor. 2. Assumptions can limit opportunities because people don't give chance. If employer think one mother cannot work hard, he will not give job. For community, if people think community is not good, they will not help or invest. So people lose chance. 3. For entrepreneurs and business owners, assumptions is problem. If customer make assumption small business is not professional because owner is young or from other country, they not buy. Investors maybe not give money if they have one story about business owner. So business can fail. 4. It is important to understand different experiences and backgrounds because every person have different story. If we listen many stories we understand better and we respect more. In business is important to understand customers because every customer is different.

Part 2: Identity Reflection - Three Influences

I think three influences that shape my identity:

1. Family: Family is most important for me. My family shape who I am today. My mum teach me to be strong and work hard. I am caring person because of my family. I interact with others with respect and I like to help people.

2. Culture: My culture Romanian is big influence. Culture teach me family values, traditions and faith. It shape me to be hard worker and respectful. When I talk with others I share my culture and I respect their culture too.

3. Traveling: Traveling help me to see new places and meet new people. This influence make me more open mind and confident. I learn new ideas when I travel. It affect how I interact with others because I listen more and I don't judge quick. I like to learn from other people stories.

by Helen Evans.

Thank you for your reflection. You have clearly understood the video's message about avoiding stereotypes and recognising different perspectives. While you have identified key influences on your identity, the reflection benefits from personal examples that have shaped who you are today.
