Unmet Need / Gap:

Older adults living in rural areas often face a severe lack of accessible digital support and training. As essential services (like banking, healthcare booking, and council support) move increasingly online, many seniors struggle due to a lack of digital literacy, poor internet connectivity, or physical isolation.
Why this gap exists:

This gap exists because modern service digitalization is usually designed with younger, urban populations in mind. Public and private sectors often cut back on physical rural branches to save costs, assuming everyone can easily transition online. Furthermore, there is a lack of localized, patient community programs tailored specifically to teach digital skills to older generations in a comfortable environment.
Suggested Idea to Fill the Gap:

A small car valeting business can create several types of value at the same time. Customers receive a useful service, while friendly staff can build trust and loyalty. Local employment adds social value, and greener cleaning methods can reduce water use and pollution. This shows that a business can support customers, the community and the environment while still making a profit.

Week 2: Service Gap and Proposed Idea

Independent car valeting businesses may struggle to afford eco-friendly equipment and training. Steam cleaners, water recycling systems and biodegradable products can be expensive for small businesses. Owners may also lack information about greener methods or worry that these products will not clean as well.
