This message provides further guidance for Assessment Component 2 (Portfolio). Additionally, the following link provides a video explaining assessment 2 in more detail.
 
Please note that this assessment consists of four elements:

Element 1 (Poster Presentation) – Due: 05th of April 2026
Full Portfolio (Elements 1, 2, 3, and 4 in one Word document) – Due: 1st May 2026 at 14:00

Important: Only Element 1 should be submitted by 05/04 using the &quot;poster presentation final submission link&quot;.All the 4 elements should be included in a word document and submitted by the 01/05 by 2:00PM under the &quot;final portfolio submission link&quot;.
 
Choosing An Existing Technology Company and developing a &quot;Brand Extension&quot;
You must select one existing technology company (e.g. Apple, Tesla, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, Dell) and use the same company throughout the assessment.
You will develop a brand extension, meaning you will propose a new product category for your chosen company.
 
Element 1: Brand Extension Poster Presentation
(3–5 minutes | Equivalent to 200 words)
You are required to create a poster (using Canva or PowerPoint) and present it in class.
Your poster should:

Introduce the chosen company and your proposed brand extension
Explain why the extension would appeal to the current market (consider trends)
Demonstrate how the extension aligns with sustainability goals

Your idea should be persuasive, targeting both investors and customers.
You will present this in class during the scheduled weeks.

Include 2–3 references with in-text citations.

Element 2: STDP Analysis
(Segmentation, Targeting, Differentiation, Positioning )

Identify relevant market segments (geographic, demographic, psychographic, behavioural)
Define and justify your target audience
Explain how your brand extension is differentiated from competitors
Clearly outline the positioning strategy

 
Element 3: Marketing Mix (4Ps or 7Ps)


Explain how each element of the marketing mix is applied
Ensure alignment with your brand extension strategy
Provide critical discussion and justification using module concepts
Support your work with academic sources

 
Element 4: Reflection
Reflect on:

Your experience developing the brand extension
Your poster preparation and presentation

You must address:

Strengths
Weaknesses
Action plan for improvement

 
References

Minimum of 15 academic references
Use Harvard referencing format
