by Brooke Davies.

“We commission documentaries with purpose, that aim to go beyond purely compelling or appealing narratives to speak to viewers’ lives, helping make sense of our changing times and therefore resonating with the broadest possible audience.” (BBC) they do this by showing a “spectrum of lived experience from across the UK” (BBC) just so they can give a “voice to people, perspectives and stories” (BBC). To maximise their audience they use mediums like promoting “key titles across TV, Radio, BBC Sounds, online and beyond” (BBC). The BBC has also considered opening up their broadcast ideas as social media is more trendy in modern day which has considered them to partner with “other broadcasters or streamers.” (BBC)
To make the audience feel more relatable they are “looking for single stories that feel timely, important and that help us to understand the extraordinary times in which we’re living” (BBC) As these stories bring a “fresh perspectives and a deeper insight into our past” (BBC) with further research going into the subject.
“These films have real range in subject matter, storytelling and tackle the same subjects as established film makers.” (BBC) which has helped keep the audience engaged with different kinds of content because of the appeal they have, as well as this the content gets a lot more engagement helping the creator create more stories they want to present and talk about and find out what's trending and what has the most audience consumption.
