by Lissy Frampton.

My understanding of workplace inclusion has been shaped strongly by my experience attending Christian schools. These environments placed a clear emphasis on shared values such as respect, kindness, service, and treating others with dignity. While the schools were faith-based, I was also encouraged to engage thoughtfully with people from different cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds, which helped me recognise that inclusion does not require sameness.

Through these experiences, I learned that holding personal beliefs can coexist with being open-minded and respectful toward others. I became comfortable listening to perspectives that differed from my own and understanding how identity, culture, and belief systems influence how people experience the world. This has shaped my expectation that workplaces should be environments where individuals feel safe to express who they are, without fear of judgement or exclusion.

In a professional setting, I expect inclusion to mean mutual respect, active listening, and a willingness to accommodate diverse needs and beliefs. I believe inclusive workplaces are stronger, more collaborative, and better equipped to support both individual wellbeing and collective success.

by Iestyn Thomas.

I previously coached youth football, and I had to design sessions that ensured that all players of all abilities were included, while simultaneously were also able to develop and improve. For example, when first starting I noticed that the same confident players tended to participate mostly and lead activities, while others stayed in the background and participated less. To create a more balanced and inclusive environment, I introduced drills and games that all players could participate in which required them to work in pairs all at the same time. This ensured that all players of different abilities were active and included, participating equally and had the opportunity to develop their skills at an appropriate pace.

For me personally I believe inclusivity in a workplace environment is vital, all employees should be treated fairly and work in an environment in which they feel valued, respected, comfortable and supported regardless of their differences.

by Ethan Thomas.

I currently work as an agency supply teaching assistant, and I believe that inclusivity is extremely vital in such a role. Different pupils will have different needs in learning and may suffer from disabilities so its very important to have the inclusivity to cater to these needs and differences with the correct facilities. From my experience, the schools I've been to have succeeded to be very inclusive and make learning as accessible as possible to everyone of all needs and differences.

I also think as a member of staff, inclusivity is very crucial among the workforce for teachers and teaching assistants to work to their best potential and feel comfortable to express their skills and knowledge as much as possible.
