by Amber Zubair Rana.

Having a mentor can help me achieve my ambitions because they can give me advice, support, and encouragement. A mentor can help me improve my skills, build confidence, and make better decisions about my future. My role model helped me by encouraging me to keep going and believe in myself. They showed me how to stay focused and work hard. Because of their support, I was able to achieve my goal and feel more confident in myself.

by Amber Zubair Rana.

Mentoring is important in health and social care because it helps people learn from someone with more experience. A mentor can give advice, support, and confidence. This can help workers improve their skills and give better care.

For example, an experienced nurse can guide a student nurse during placement. A senior care worker can also support a new staff member and show them how to work safely and communicate well with service users.

Reflect: The goals you have set yourself

by Amber Zubair Rana.

One goal I had was to complete my work by the first deadline. I did not finish it on time, but as a DSA student I was given an extra week. This helped me manage my work better, and I was able to pass.

The reason I needed more time was not because I failed, but because I needed extra support and time to complete the work properly. The extension gave me the chance to focus, organise my work, and finish it to a better standard.

Antifragile thinking could still help me because it teaches me to learn from challenges and become stronger. In the future, I can use my time more carefully, plan earlier, and use support in a positive way.
