Webinar 9 - John and Judaism

Our next webinar will be held on Tuesday, 12 December, at 4.00 pm, when we will discuss John's relationship with Judaism, including its various references to 'the Jews'. In preparation for our discussion, I would be grateful if you could:

1) Read through my unit notes (Unit 9), and

2) Read the essays by Alan Culpepper and Adele Reinhartz.

If you have time, you may also wish to consult some of the other items listed in Unit 9.

Two other notifications:

- The tenth (and final) webinar for this module will be held after the Christmas vacation, on 9 January 2024, at 4.00 pm.

- The final deadline for submitting assignments has been extended until 11 January 2024.

Webinar 8 - The Spirit-Paraclete in the Gospel of John

Our next webinar will be held on Tuesday, 5 December, at 4.00 pm, when we will discuss the role of the Spirit (-Paraclete) in the Gospel of John. In preparation for our discussion, I would be grateful if you could:

1) Read through my unit notes (Unit 8),

2) Read through the essay by Wendy North and also the relevant sections in my essay entitled ‘Faith, Eternal Life, and the Spirit in the Gospel of John’,

3) If you have time, you may also wish to consult Jonathan Draper’s essay in which he adopts a social-scientific approach to the presentation of the Spirit-Paraclete in John’s Gospel.
