by Mali Gill.

You've highlighted an important perspective on how power operates in the digital age, where communication and the shaping of meaning play a crucial role in influencing perceptions and societal norms. Castells' view on networks as a source of power shows how communication shapes legitimacy and collective understanding. Additionally, the role of professional and personal networks in entrepreneurship is vital, as they provide both practical knowledge and emotional support, ultimately driving motivation and decision-making in business ventures.

by Mali Gill.

In social work, networks refer to the systems of relationships and support structures that social workers build and maintain to enhance service delivery. These networks include colleagues, community organizations, healthcare providers, legal professionals, and other social service agencies. They play a crucial role in helping social workers coordinate care, share resources, and provide holistic support to clients (Fellmann, 2026). Stakeholders are individuals or groups with an interest or concern in the outcomes of social work interventions. These may include clients, families, local authorities, government bodies, or non-profit organizations. Engaging stakeholders is vital for social workers, as it ensures that interventions are aligned with the needs of the community and that policies or practices are effective and inclusive (Patil, 2021). By maintaining strong networks and involving key stakeholders, social workers can advocate for better resources, policies, and services, ultimately improving client outcomes and fostering community well-being.

by Magdalena Jaanda.

In a network society, power comes from communication and how people understand it, not just force. Digital networks shape views of institutions and rules. Professional networks help with business knowledge, while family and friends provide support and motivation for new ventures.
