by Caroline Lewis.

If you are using the UKPSF as the professional standards for your portfolio if you have completed your teaching in higher education then use UKPSF2011 as consistency is better than changing a a new set of standards halfway through. However, you may want to include in your action plan that if you wish to continue to teach in HE that you will need to familiarise yourself with the PSF2023 as a future action for your continuing development.

by Nia Edy.

Hello, can I just check for absolute certain what version of the pofessional standards we should be referring to in the portfolio? I have referred to 2011 in my lesson plans etc so do we refer to 2011 in the 2,000 reflection too? Is it better to be consistent and use the same ones throughout even though they're outdated? Thanks!

by Caroline Lewis.

You do only have to log 100 hours but if you only include ones from last year then to an external person looking at your work it may seem that you have only taught last year so I would suggest adding a mix, especially as you have been observed this year and should be including those. The key principle is not only that you have completed the requisite hours but that you are showing progression in your professional development which should then show consistent engagement with teaching activities over the whole two years. Completely your call if you want to just add to the hours from last year and go over the 100 or just include some from last year and some from this year.
